Update 17th June '08

Congratulations to our following Solo sailors who gained great results at the Inlands at Rutland in their Boon Solos. The event proved to be quite testing (for me anyway!) with varying wind conditions. Congratulations; Charlie Cumbley with 4th place overall & a race win, David McGregor 5th overall, David Liddington 17th overall & Grand Master, Chris Goswell 28th overall and also won the Plate Series. I didn't to do badly myself (having not sailed a boat for 12 months!) with 26th overall!

Not forgetting, Ollie Dumbleton who, although not at the Inlands, had a great result himself, with the birth of a baby daughter, Harriet, on Friday. Congratulations Ollie & family

SPRING SOLO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008 DOMINATED BY BOON SOLOS

Update April 12th 2008

The second major Solo class championship of 2008 (Spring Championship) was held at Oxford Sailing Club on Saturday 12th April, with a turnout of 48 Solos sailing in very breezy & testing conditions. Th event was won by Charlie Cumbley the 2008 Winter Champion (4858) followed closely with a solid 2nd place won by David MacGregor (4832), using the new D+ rig & North Technora Sails.

The 1st race saw Charlie first round the windward mark and lead convincingly by a large margin to the finish line. The 2nd race, having recovered from a capsize on the start line, Charlie sliced his way through the fleet with outstanding boat speed to finish 2nd on the line. David MacGregor had a superb 2nd race leading comfortably and despite a capzise on the last run, recovered to take the win. Fantastic spectating!!!

Congratulations to Charlie & David on their 1st & 2nd places respectively.Click here for the full story on Yachts and Yachting.

BOON FRP SOLO WINS THE 2008 WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS

update Feb 2nd 2008

The 2008 season has opened with a top result at the Winter Championships held at Grafham Water Sailing Club. Charlie Cumbley sailing his new BOON FRP SOLO won the event with 2 race wins to take the title for 2008. Charlie took the title from amongst the top flight of the Solo class in his first competitive outing. Sailing 4858 in the standard trim supplied, Charlie showed excellent pace allround to see off the competition. Charlie will be out on the circuit at all the main events this season accompanied from time to time by Jamie lea. Well done Charlie!

Race wins at the 2007 Inlands and at the Nationals with my first 2 boats in the hands of Jim Hunt & Jamie Lea finishing in the top 5 overall, plus Charlie Cumbley winning the Winters 2008 has provided us with a strong demand resulting in a very healthy order on going order book.

We would also like to welcome back our "wooden" customers who have decided to make the transition to FRP and also welcome our new customers.

Thanks also to Jim Hunt for his assistance over the past 12 months and his ongoing support, we also wish to acknowledge and thank the SOLO Committee for the support they have given us throughout the development process.
